Dunki Movie Box Office
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Dunki, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, managed to rake in an impressive ₹425-454 crore worldwide. It had a weak run behind other SRK 2023 releases Pathaan and Jawan despite his mass fan base. His movies Dunki did have only a very limited release unlike those of Pathaan and Jawan that have passed over ₹400 crore marks.
Underperformance reasons: Clash with other big-ticket movies such as Salaar: Part 1 and Animal that compete with this movie for attention of viewers during the festival season which affected the film’s potential reach in major international markets. Themes related to migration and homecoming found acceptance with some viewers, though not widely, and, in fact, disappointed audiences in some territories such as the Middle East and UK. Even in the major markets like Canada and Australia, with huge fan bases of SRK, Dunki did not fetch the desired marks, while Pathaan and Jawan were doing around $50 million each

The lack of manpower in England because of World War II led them to accept large-scale immigration of workers from India in their fields and factories. Many youths of Punjab visited London for this opportunity and soon many other youths motivated themselves to reach England from whichever place they were staying at. The Commonwealth Immigrants Act 1962 shut the doors to migration, making it impossible to migrate to London. But the dream continued. In 2020, a middle-aged Manu Randhawa, played by Taapsee Pannu, is fleeing from a hospital in London, England, where she meets Advocate Puru Patel, played by Deven Bhojani, an immigration lawyer of Indian origin.
Manu demands a visa to go to India but says that taking an Indian visa is difficult for her as she had involved herself in certain activities during the previous regime. Therefore, Manu requests Puru to contact her former lover, Hardayal Singh Dhillon, also called Hardy, and Hardy, being thrilled with the sound of Manu after 25 years in Laltu, Punjab, India. Hardy forges an opportunity to win the local old age athletics meet held at Laltu, just to discuss with Manu who asks Hardy to go to Dubai, UAE so that she can be returned to India as she cannot get an Indian visa.
