Where are all the fans of the thrilling zombie apocalypse series, ‘All of Us Are Dead’? You people have a reason to rejoice – the release of its sequel is officially announced by Netflix. The return of the students from Hyosan High School, along with some new characters has been promised by the renewal season.
All of Us Are Dead Season 2 Release Date
Several characters are going to reprise their role in the upcoming chapter, even after their demise in the first season.
Cho Yi-hyun as Nam-ra, Park Ji-hu as On-jo, Im Jae-hyuk as Dae-su, Park Solomon as Su-hyeok, Ha Seung-ri as Ha-ri, Bo-yoon as Hyo-ryung, Lee Eun-saem as Mi-jin are some of them. In the first season, Cheong-san, who is played by Yoon Chan-young, teases the audience with hints about returning.
Relieving the first season – In the South Korean city of Hyosan, a horrific experiment is enacted by a science teacher, resulting in a local high school being overrun with zombies. As the outbreak spreads to the city, and efforts to contain it are struggled by the beleaguered authorities, a group of trapped students must band together and use their wits to survive and reach safety.
What is the plot?
To date, the plot of the forthcoming sequel is not clear. However, the Hyosan explosion, which left the students in the challenging world of zombies, was the ending of the first part.
In an interview with The Korea Herald, it was hinted by director Lee Jae-kyoo that room for a continuation was intentionally left, with various plot points and sequences being crafted to pave the way for the renewal season.
In April 2024, fans were teased by Netflix Korea, who released an image and video preview of season 2 on their official handle. Captioning – “Can we survive again? The following chapter of the intense zombie survival saga involving the Hyosan High School friends is about to commence”. Director Lee Jae-kyoo suggested that the upcoming chapter will center on the fight for survival against zombies.
When will All of Us Are Dead Season 2 Release?
In an interview with The Chosun Daily, an insight into the production timeline and setting for season 2 was provided by Director Lee. Pre-production is currently underway, with filming scheduled to begin in the latter half of 2024, aiming for a release in the second half of the following year.
As stated by The Chosun Daily, it was affirmed by Director Lee that, “We’re currently in the pre-production stage.” He also mentioned that “The casting has been finalized. The ensemble of the original protagonists and new additions is eagerly anticipated. It can be stated that both the kids from Season 1 and the scale have grown.”
Continuing with the details, it was elaborated by him that filming will start in the latter half of this year, in the third or fourth quarter, and it is scheduled to be released in the second half of next year. More powerful and evolved zombies, with the fallen city of Seoul as the main setting, will be featured in season 2.
